The Wooster Square Cherry Blossom Committee is delighted to celebrate the the amazing cherry trees in Wooster Square Park every year on an April Sunday. These trees helped anchor Wooster Square and the City of New Haven with a signature and historic landmark that was honored with a milestone anniversary last year.
Join us again with your picnic blanket and chairs on Sunday April 6, 2025 from 12:00-4:30pm!
About our Musicians
St. Luke’s Steel Band

St. Luke’s Steel Band began when supporters from New Haven’s historic St. Luke’s Episcopal Church purchased a set of used steel drums from a band in Brooklyn. SInce then, the group has attracted a deedicated membership of players of all ages, may who hail from the Wet Indies.
Airborne

Airborne was formed in the 1980s and celebrates year of recording projects, festivals, concerts and city and community events, such as our celebration. The band has a beautiful trademark sound of Island Passion and Urban Emotion, pulling from Cool Jazz Island Music, Jazz & R&B Vocals, Caribbean Latin, and Sumer Music.
Carlos y su Momento

The 11-piece Carlos Santiago y Su Momento creates an enthusiasm that floods all in attendance. Carlos Santiago y Su Momento is a local New Haven favorite that has performed at the Arts & Ideas Festival in prior years and opened multiple times for the Grammy-nominated legends Plena Libre.

Suggested parking spots include the Conte School on Chapel, High School in the Community and Metropolitan Business Academy both on Water, and streets east of the square past the underpass for 95 Such as Hamilton, Wallace, and East streets
If a little walk suits you, the Post Office parking lot and Ikea parking lots on Brewery Street are also available.
